OCONOMOWOC, WI— SEPTEMBER 8, 2019— In cooperation with Wisconsin Impact and Let It Rain Basketball, W7 and Zone Athletics are announcing the formation of the first ever Wisconsin Girls Club State Championships. This weekend tournament is available to all Wisconsin based club girls basketball teams and will be held May 2-3, 2020 in Waukesha County.
W7 will be involved in the promotion of this event as well as live streaming games including Championship Sunday in which the first ever club girls basketball state champions will be crowned on the court. Participation in this event is being offered at a rate of only $200.00 per team and each team is guaranteed at least four stopped clock games.
“Our goal is to design and price a tournament such that literally every club in Wisconsin would be interested in attending” said Scott Witt, Wisconsin Impact. “We have always admired what Minnesota has been able to do with their state tournament and we felt there was a great opportunity to develop a similar event within our state.”
“Our long-term vision is for this event to become an annual tradition” said Cory Poole, Let It Rain Basketball. “For that to happen we want to make sure we instill a process that is as inclusive as possible. In addition to having multiple divisions at each age level (10U-17U), the teams in each division will determine their own seeding. We want to eliminate any barriers for the clubs to celebrate girls basketball in our state.”
“We are so excited to partner with Coach Witt and Coach Poole in the Wisconsin Girls Club State Championships” said Gary Wipperman, W7 Productions. “This event will allow us to do what we do best and that is to celebrate and showcase the abundance of talent we have in girls basketball in our state. The icing on the cake for us was the inclusion of our partner Zone Athletics and their role to help make this event special. We are hopeful as many clubs as possible will sign up!”
